Keynote Speaker:

Charles Cho, ESSEC Business School, Paris

Charles Cho is Professor of Social and Environmental Accounting at ESSEC Business School, Paris. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, a Master of Science in Accounting, and a PhD in Business Administration (Accounting Track) from the University of Central Florida. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified General Accountant (CGA), and worked for KPMG LLP and other public accounting firms for several years in auditing and taxation. His research interests are Social and Environmental Accounting; Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); and Accounting and the Public Interest. Prof. Cho has published articles in refereed academic journals such as Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Accounting, Organizations and Society, Advances in Environmental Accounting and Management, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, the European Accounting Review, the International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Gestion - Revue Internationale de Gestion, the Journal of Business Ethics, and Social and Environmental Accountability Journal, and was an invited author of chapters in several books.

Encarna Guillamon-Saorin – 3rd December 2012

 

Encarna Guillamon-Saorin from the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid is giving a research seminar entitled “Impression management and Non-GAAP reporting in earnings announcements” as part of Bangor Business School’s research seminar series in Accounting, Banking, Economics, and Finance on Monday, 3rd December 2012 in Alun 1.01 at 12.00pm.

Encarna is assistant professor in the Department of Business Administration at University Carlos III de Madrid.

Her main research interest is in the area of financial reporting. In particular, Encarna investigates managing disclosure strategies focusing on impression management and bias in voluntary disclosures in an international context. She has published papers in highly ranked journals, including Accounting, Organizations and Society, Accounting and Business Research, and the Accounting, Auditing, and Accountability Journal.

 

Walter Aerts - 10th October 2012

Walter Aerts from the University of Antwerp is giving a research seminar on “Management’s Earnings Justification and Earnings Management under Different Institutional Regimes” as part of Bangor Business School’s research seminar series in Accounting, Banking, Economics, and Finance on Wednesday, 10th October, Main Arts LR2 at 12.00 noon.


Walter Aerts is associate editor of the British Accounting Review. His research interests are narrative impression management, internal control and corporate governance, IPOs, media effects on business, institutional perspectives on accounting and international comparative disclosure research. He has co-authored several books on subjects such as financial reporting and analysis, fair value and business combinations. He has a significant number of publications in international academic journals such as Accounting, Organizations and Society, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Accounting and Business Research, Corporate Governance: An International Review, Management Decision, Journal of Business Finance and Accounting and European Accounting Review.
